Am I....

...good enough? all those of us who create have faced a crisis in confidence at one point or another. I know I have (not so long ago, as a matter of fact). Even a momentary dry-up of ideas and creativity causes me to wonder whether the last piece I created was really THE last one.

Just the other day, I sat in front of my beads, metals and findings, and my creative mind was a mush. Nothing seemed to fit together, I was not happy with my ideas.....so what to do? well, first, I poured myself a glass of great wine and guess what? the world became a lot more agreeable pretty quickly. And then ideas started flowing again...Am I saying that wine is a solution to all creative problems! OMG - No! BUT..the point is to relax, sit back, take things in stride and the ideas, the creative juices will come back, sooner or later. Sometimes, the hiatus is a little longer. Take your time...it will be ok.

The point I need to make to myself (more than to anyone else, really) is that there is room for everyone on Etsy and in the creative world, even for me. The jewelry business is exceedingly competitive, especially in this trying economy, and the need for patience is greater than ever...

So no matter what you do, don't let occasional set backs bog you down and make you inert - step back, breathe in, take a little time away from your craft if you need to and it will all fall back into place, it always does...
