I have a fetish....(or is it an anti-fetish?).....

I do not like people touching my feet (it's hereditary - my Mama felt the same).....but Manolo Blahnik can touch my feet anytime! To me, he remains a Prince of Shoes and this has nothing to do with the hoopla he got on Sex and the City...I have loved Manolo for years....classic proportions, supremely feminine and yet, so fresh, soooo current!

Whoawee! Outback meets cowgirl meets sexy!

These are fit for the Piratess of the Caribbean, don't you agree???? Love them!

Modern Athena!

No surprises but sometimes, that' a good thing!

If you are wondering about the most popular colour palette for the upcoming holiday season, your first guess was correct - it's black and grey and white! To me, that's a good thing, a measure of certainty, that is! These are perennial favourites for sooo many designers and why not? - black, grey and white are festive, crisp and dramatic- on their own or in combination (with each other and other colours)....One commentator opines that this is evidence of the designers' "somber" mood about the economy and the state of our lives in general - WHAT???? I love to wear black even when I am delirious and giggling uncontrollably (which is often, I must admit) so that theory is, in my view, bosh!!

Looove that metallic gray - I have a super jacket from a super Canadian designer, Lida Baday, and I wear it each season...it's a classic!

I am so thankful!

Dear Friends and Followers....thank you for your patience and incredible support as I experience an important transition in my life....I am in the process of leaving an association and starting up my own business, for the first time in my life. No, not a jewelry design/manufacturing business - I have been doing that on my own for some time now...no, I am referring to my daytime life, as a practising lawyer/attorney, which is what I do when I am not playing with beads and findings....does that suprise/shock you/put you off? I hope it doesn't. I am very passionate about using both sides of my brain and I enjoy both experiences very much...at present, I am in the middle of designing, furnishing and decorating my new business premises....all with the input and incredible support of my right hand, my Law Clerk and super friend, Carolyn, without whom none of this would be possible.....thank you, Carolyn, and thank you to all my friends and collegues for their support, friendship and encouragement! oxoxoxo AJ

I have a number of t-shirts which are dying for a makeover and judging from
 Balmain's Spring 2010 RTW Collection,
I will be doing both the T-shirts and myself a huge favour!
A little nip here and there and presto!
The man behind Balmain's incredible success in the last few years (and this is despite the fact that a basic T-shirt at Balmain costs $1,500) is Christophe Decarnin, known as "the shy" designer.
With each of his collections, the sales at Balmain double! He is THE genius who, in the last few seasons, brought sequins to daytime and he is well known for sizzling runway shows with vampy babes...
...for Spring, he adorned his muses in military regalia paired with sparkle and studs....va-voom, Christophe!!

Few do it better...than Manolo!!

Posted by Picasa

I have compiled this little retrospective of naughty and classic Manolo Blahnik's creations for you to put you in the mood for a naughty Halloween!
I have a "devil may care" attitude about high heels and so should you (at least from time to time)..I guess I will just end up with a cane for support (or worse!) when a few years from now, my back gives up completely but until then, here's to worshipping at the altar of King Manolo and his hazardous but oh-so-beautiful creations!
Boo!

They wore petals.....

...at the Valentino Ready-to-Wear 2010 Collection, courtesy of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pier Paolo Piccioli.
The duo had the runway filled with swirling and sheer rounded flower elements made of organza, silk and other super-factile fabrics, in hues of lavender, soft beige, shimmery silver, gold and lilac. Lacy and almost-invisible strappy heels completed the look. Not a red dress in sight! It would have marred the dreamy and romantic, almost ethereal theme presented by Churi and Piccoli.
Truly magical!
